Bike for my sister

My sister Amy is off to college in 7 days so I got her this bike! Its an 81 Schwinn super sport. Its perfect for her. I was lucky to find it in such short notice. the paint could be in better condition but the frames a perfect size for her and the super sport is a really nice frame because you can upgrade it and all the new parts will fit on it. you don't need an enlarged brake caliper if you decide to get a nice 700c wheel set, fancy new brake calipers and pads fit on it, its a euro bottom bracket, etc. Anyways her it is. I hope it serves her well for the next 4-8 years.

 

Orange C. Itoh

This is my latest completed project bike. The only other thing I would do to this bike would be to put a nice wheel set on there. Probably something blouses black. I really like the orange and black color scheme of this bike. Its a C. Itoh, Made in Mexico. Had allot of Japanese parts on it. Everything I read about this bike said it was a crummy bike, but I couldn't resist working on it. I've worked on worse bikes than this by far. Allot of the original parts on the biker were crap but what bike this old doesn't need a few new parts? I've been dreaming of a bike with ornate lugs like these ones for a long time now and for that reason I've decided to keep this one for myself. My second bike. Its a little bigger than my blue Schwinn I ride and seems to fit me a bit better. I slimmed it down to a single speed with a gear ratio of 42 18.

I love the finished bike but if I was offered the right amount of money right now, I'd probably sell it. (let me know. mail@mitchellv.me)

Oh yea and its sort of an interesting story how I got the bike. I was selling the green Ranger on Craigslist and I got a call from a guy who has a bike Museum/ shop in MIlwaukee. He said he wanted to display the bike in his museum so needless to say I gave the bike to him. In exchange he was going to pay my asking price but instead I offered him a trade for one of his many project bikes he had laying around the basement of his shop and a bunch of parts for my future projects too. I was like a kid in a candy store and ultimately chose this C. Itoh because it was brand I had never heard of, had very ornate lugs, and was a really cool color. Turns out the brand is crap but the frame is still awesome and in the end the bike is a super cool daily rider.

Next project is to build a bike for my sister who is getting ready to go off to college. I've only got a month to find her a bike that she will love and will love her for the next four to eight years. Quite the job but it should be fun!

Phillips Ranger.

So I figured out this bike isn't as rare as I thought it was. But its still a sick bike full of potential. Ive got an aluminum alloy rear wheel with a big kenda tire on it. The front tire is original steel/chrome with that peculiar quick release. Seat is a specialized alias 130 saddle. gear ratio is the traditional 46/16. Luckily the original crank was a 46 tooth. The bards are cut coaster bars and I slimmed it down to a single front brake. A pretty sweet build for $15. I'd ride it if I didn't have my Schwinn.

Powder Blue Schwinn Varsity

Got this Schwinn from my grandma in fantastic condition. She says she never rode it. I think I'm the only one that ever got on it back when I was little and got bored at her house.
I took it home and polished it up. I upgraded the rear de-railer to a shimano I had laying around and put on a smaller shifter lever. I lightened it up a bit by taking off the front de-railer system along with the excess chain rings on the cranks.
This bike is so much fun to ride. Its a nice comfortable change from the road bike I ride. The seat is wonderful and the posture change is really nice too. I was going to hold on to this one because of how good of condition its in but I've caved and am putting it on Craigslist for a small amount of time. If someone wants it I'll part with it and if no one does then I'll just keep it.

Roadmaster Mountain Bike

This is my mountain bike. I bought it at Wal Mart maybe 2 years ago with the intent of installing a 50cc motor on it and did so. The frame couldn't hold up to the wear that the motor put on it and caused that huge dent on the bottom tube. I took the motor off and installed it on a trusty/ rusty old Schwinn. I had the mountain bike in great running condition to take on the rough off road trails and it worked great for that purpose. I bought it for $80 at Wal Mart and sold it on Craigslist in used condition for $90. What a deal!

Ranger Phillips Chicago England

I found this bike today! I payed $15 and am slowly finding that I got a fantastic deal. I can't really place a good estimated value on the bike yet but could use help doing so. What I know so far about the bike is that it was made in a Raleigh factory in the 60-70's. I can't figure out why the head badge says Chicago Illinois though. Its built with the same parts as the super rare "Robin Hood Bike" with only minor differences including the labels of coarse. The de-railers are legendary huret items. Legendary because that design was a milestone in de-railer technology and were the first of their kind. Bottom Bracket isn't Euro or American and crank is ornate and super rad. The front tire has the most unique quick release hub I've ever seen, and the brake pads say "John Bull" on them for some reason (Just a British brand I guess). If anyone can help me learn more about this bike I'd really appreciate it. I think I've got something rare on my hands and would like to price it at such but who knows it could be just another "Fixie" upper if you know what I mean.

88 Raleigh Technium

I bought this 1988 Raleigh Technium for $30 (a bargain!) and haven't decided to sell it yet. I would make it my regular rider but its about 2 inches too small for me. I can make it work but will probably end up selling it in the end. Its the lightest bike I've owned and rides beautifully. I put the brooks seat on there and probably wont sell the seat with the bike. changed the bars to bullhorns, removed front brake, tuned up back brake, remove front de-railer, replaced front three gears with one 46 tooth cog. Need simple brake grip then I'm done and will decide to sell it or not. will fit a girl or a short guy beautifully. I wish it would have been just a little bit bigger.

Schwinn Traveler

I got this bike for $20 in very poor condition and am still working on it. I'm hopping to get $100 for it when I'm done with it. It needs better peddles and a chain that will fit but in the mean time I'll be polishing it and touching up the paint a little. I bought it for the cool decals and because I could sell the frame as a polo bike. will update when I finish it. Also I have all the original parts if you're looking for any let me know. All in poor condition and will sell for low price.
